What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) is the health service that focuses on the client’s function of everyday activities, or Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). OT helps clients get back to doing what they need and want to do through meaningful activities.

Our Therapists

An Occupational Therapist is a caring health care provider who has achieved a bachelor or master’s degree in the field. They are compassionate individuals who look at the client as a whole in order to assist them in developing and achieving goals. Pediatric OTs commonly work together with parents and caregivers, school administrators, teachers, and other therapists, to address a child’s developmental motor milestones and develop daily living skills.

What are the Benefits of Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

Guiding each child’s ability to perform daily activities at an optimal level

The benefits of occupational therapy are vast. Working with clients throughout the lifespan, OTs have the unique ability to provide services using everyday activities and materials. When working with items and tasks that are performed on a daily basis, clients get great carryover of skills and can really relate their therapy to everyday activities. Occupational Therapists are able to break down activities into their smaller components in order to locate and treat the specific area of difficulty. This allows for a holistic approach at an appropriate pace for the client.
