TES has over 25 years of experience providing tutoring services to high-need students throughout the country, including English learners, students in low-income communities, foster youth, students in special education, students eligible for Title I support, and schools with a high percentage of students eligible for the free and reduced lunch program. In addition, TES is a CDE-certified non-public agency that provides DIS and academic services to school districts, charter schools, non-public schools, and schools throughout California, Ohio, Michigan, and online.

The strategies we utilize to achieve student success in our Academic Tutoring Services include ongoing collaboration and partnership with the school site, pre- and post-testing using standardized academic assessment tools, individual goals, and objectives developed for each student’s learning needs, supplemental materials to increase skills in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and project-based literacy, instructional decisions made on data collected by the tutor and reported to the school. Progress monitoring and documentation are recorded for all sessions.

Qualified & Caring Professionals:
Our tutors are carefully selected based on our client’s needs. They hold at least an associate’s degree, with many possessing a bachelor’s or advanced degree. Each tutor undergoes rigorous DOJ and FBI background checks and is trained in Trauma-Informed Practices in Schools (TIPS) to support students’ social-emotional well-being.

Comprehensive Support:
Our tutors work with students from Pre-K through adulthood, offering in-person and online sessions tailored to geographic and academic needs.

Through weekly sessions with the tutor, students work towards mastery of those goals, ultimately leading them to higher grades in their core studies.

How do we include the family?

In order to make tutoring a success, family members can provide valuable information for learning. Moms and dads and siblings can learn alongside the student and use those skills to keep learning going even after the session has ended.

What is an example of Tutoring Services?

Jasmine came to us with poor grades in her high school algebra class. Her teacher was great at auditory directions, but Jasmine needed someone to break lessons down and engage her tactile and visual strengths. Through videos and manipulatives, her tutor showed her how to turn the teacher’s directions into real life puzzles and games. By the end of the semester, Jasmine had turned her D into a high A and other students were asking her for help. Jasmine did great in her class and her parents were thrilled with Jasmine’s increased self-esteem.

How many times a week do kids need Tutoring Services?

Most students find success when meeting with their tutors 2-3 times a week for an hour at a time. Sometimes, a longer session can help with upcoming exams, but most students tend to hit their plateau at an hour.

What is the most important thing a Tutor can do for a student?

A great tutor will not only help students through a rough assignment, they will give them skills that can be applied to future assignments. A great tutor can take a failing student and discover where the student is lacking a skill and fill in the gaps to allow for new learning to take place.

What age should you start Tutoring?

Tutoring can start as early as Kindergarten. There is no age at which it is better to start. Tutoring should begin when the student and/or their family feel that additional assistance would be beneficial.
