What is Clinical Psychology & Pediatric Counseling?
Clinical pediatric psychology is a specialty that provides continuing, comprehensive mental and behavioral health care for individuals and families; including consultation to agencies and communities; training, education and supervision; and research-based practice. The term “Clinical Psychology” is typically reserved for doctoral-level providers that are licensed clinical psychologists.
Child counselors, however, are mental health providers (licensed counselors, clinical psychologists, and school psychologists) that offer therapeutic support to children and adolescents who are struggling to cope with social, emotional, learning, and/or behavioral challenges.

Clinical pediatric psychologists have doctoral training and are licensed by the state board of psychology. They have expertise in behavior, development, and contextual factors that impact a child’s outcome and are highly trained in both assessment and evidence based treatment with specific expertise in developmental disorders.
Our counselors hold one or more of the following qualifications: Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Clinical Psychologist, Board Certified School Psychologist, Licensed Independent Social Worker.

TES’s qualified psychologists and counselors can evaluate and diagnose developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorder, and specific learning disabilities in reading, writing or math such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. We also offer navigation services that help families process emotions related to new diagnoses, obtain educational support for their child’s diagnosis, receive individualized support around coping skills, and become connected to related services.
