What is Clinical Psychology & Pediatric Counseling?

Clinical pediatric psychology is a specialty that provides continuing, comprehensive mental and behavioral health care for individuals and families; including consultation to agencies and communities; training, education and supervision; and research-based practice. The term “Clinical Psychology” is typically reserved for doctoral-level providers that are licensed clinical psychologists.

Child counselors, however, are mental health providers (licensed counselors, clinical psychologists, and school psychologists) that offer therapeutic support to children and adolescents who are struggling to cope with social, emotional, learning, and/or behavioral challenges.
