What is Autism?
According to the Diagnosis and Statistical Manual – version 5 (DSM-5), Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts an individual’s reciprocal social communication, interactions, and behaviors. Individuals with Autism may also display restricted or repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. These difficulties develop in early childhood and limit or impair an individual’s everyday functioning.
Our Autism Navigators
At TES, we have found that training in child development, special education, and psychology is essential in supporting children and adolescents with Autism. We have also found that knowledge of local community resources and services, evidence-based treatment and interventions, and collaboration with related service providers have been beneficial to our clients with Autism and their families.
What are the Benefits of Autism Support?
Parenting is a challenging job and parenting a child with a disability can be overwhelming. Autism Navigators walk alongside families to provide education, support, and access to services. They serve as a caregiver’s go-to person for questions and guidance in those important early days of a new diagnosis. Autism Navigators meet with caregivers regularly and individually after a new diagnosis to ensure families have a safe place to process emotions related to a new Autism diagnosis. Our team members are connected to all of the necessary related service providers and provide educational support regarding Autism and individualized coping skills support.

TES' approach to Autism Support
What does a typical session look like?
We provide education about an Autism diagnosis, connect families with valuable services they’ll need, and create a safe place for families to process the emotions they’re feeling.
How do we work as a team?
We work collaboratively with caregivers, schools, and related services providers to provide the best support for our clients and their families. We have a collaborative team of independent experts within our own clinics as well, including psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and board-certified behavior analysts.
How do we include the family?
TES’ approach to Autism Navigation directly involves the family as Navigators work directly with caregivers to identify the family’s individualized needs and provide appropriate supports to meet those needs.
